The Morning Edition

You know it's getting bad when coaches who don't even get offered the job turn it down. Notre Dame's Mike Brey, a former Duke assistant, announced this weekend he would remain with the Irish and not take the NC State job as has been rumored. A newspaper report over the weekend placed Brey in Raleigh for a visit, so naturally it was assumed he was talking with State officials about the job. I've lost count, but that's at least five people who have officially turned down the job. Hey, I hear Pete Gillen is looking for a job.

It's hard to beat the ease of which Virginia captured the ACC men's lacrosse title this weekend. One win and the tournament championship belonged to the Cavaliers. With Duke not taking part in the tournament, only three teams were involved. Virginia, as the top seed, got the bye, then beat Maryland 11-5 for the championship on Sunday.

Virginia's lacrosse women also won the ACC Tournament, upsetting top-seeded Duke 13-8. Duke's only losses this season have come against the Cavaliers.

Day two of the NFL Draft saw a lot more ACC players get selected. Miami had three more players taken for a total of nine over the two days. Florida State ended up with eight players being drafted. And Virginia Tech had nine players taken, although the Hokie with the most press last year didn't hear his named called over the weekend.

And, since we're on the subject, while Virginia Tech's quarterback didn't get drafted, Virginia's did, although he probably won't play that position in the NFL.
