The N&O's Ned Barnett writes Duke couldn't beat their own devils Tuesday night. And Friend of the Nation Rachel Carter had the tough job of talking to the Duke players after the game.

By the way, who was the bright person at ESPN who decided to put Abby Waner on camera for an interview after the game? Come on. I am a Carolina guy, but I couldn't have felt worse for the poor girl.

Only a freshman, she was forced to play the point at the very end of the game and things didn't go well, to say the least. She is now putting all the blame on herself for being in a position her team should have never let her get into. Duke is to blame, not just Waner. How they blew a 13-point lead I'll never know.

But when Waner was in tears on camera and her voice was cracking, I had a knot in my stomach. I think maybe a tear came to my eye as well. I've never liked interviewing the losing players after a championship game. Interview the coach. Sure. Fine. He or she is paid good money to answer questions win or lose. But not the players. And especially not a freshman.

Have a heart.
